Fowler has been directing long before she had the hat to prove it. Fostering an interest in directing after spending years in rehearsal wondering what the show looked like from the director’s view, or with the technical elements included, Fowler stepped into the world of directing in college, and has loved every minute of it. Since then Fowler has directed and assistant directed with a variety of companies, spanning new works, classics, and a delightful mix of things in-between.

An “actor’s director” Fowler has learned much of her own style from working with directors she has admired, and seeing what she responds to as a performer herself. Fowler pushes for open communication and prioritizes respecting performers’ time in each rehearsal room.

When asked why she directs as well as acts: “They are entirely different for me. They may both result in a play, but I would always miss the other world, the other’s creativity, if I only chose one lane. I’m grateful I haven’t had to.”
